And I'd like some suggestions and also a little help. I'm up on my DC Animated Film game and slowly catching up on my marvel one. Here are the ones I have off memory that I am yet to begin reading.

DC

1. First 12 issues of all The New 52 comics. Deleted all the ones that have already been cancelled.

2. Batman HUSH

3. Batman RIP/Battle for the Cowl story arc

4. Blackest Night story arc

5. Salvation Run

6. Emperor Joker(I think that's what it's called) which is when the Joker gets powers

7. Superman:Red Son

Marvel

1. Civil War arch

2. Secret Invasion arc

3. X-men Schism

4. X-men vs Avengers

5. Planet Hulk

6. Doomwars

7. Ultimate Spider-Man(when Miles Morales takes over)

Non DC/Marvel

1. Chew

And I think that about covers it. I love comic book lore and I draw plenty of inspiration from superheroes with my own writing, but it's very hard to get into them when you don't really know where to start. The ones I listed and already have were either suggested to me (Civil War, Doomwars) or sounded mad interesting from my own research(Salvation run)

Questions/Help

1. If anyone has a link to the order I should be reading the Batman RIP arc stuff and Blackest Night stuff that'd be greatly appreciated.

2. With The New 52, is it a reset button? For example. did the events of Batman RIP still take place in the New 52 universe?

3. Is there something similar to the new 52 for someone looking to get more into the Marvel side of the things?

4. What are some good Black Panther comics to check for? That dude is a boss. Any other black superheroes to check for would be appreciated.

5. My favorite comic book characters are Batman, Green Lantern, Wolverine, Captain America, Dr. Doom, and Magneto. Any dope stores involving these guys I would love to read.

6. I prefer more modern stories because old school art work doesn't really do much for me. I thoroughly enjoyed The Killing Joke though.

7. I heard there's a Batman arc where dikk Grayson takes over as Batman and Bruce's son takes over as Robin. Sounds ill as fukk. Is that dope?

Thanks to all who help. Much appreciated.

I will try to answer these questions but when it comes to comic books it is just better to find what you like and do some research wither it is the writer or artist.

1
Morrison Batman Reading order - Comic Vine
Blackest Night Reading Order - The Green Lantern Corps Message Board

2. The new 52 is a reset to DC continuity. DC does this about every 10-15 years so it is not surprising but Batman was the only character who continuity was not affected by the reset where more or less his stories from the previous universe still happened.

3. The closet to the new 52 would be the ultimate Marvel universe where you could pick up the comics of spiderman or xmen and don't have to worry about 50 years continuity. But these characters are totally new interpretations and don't act like there 616 counterparts.

4. The Priest run of Black Panther is good and you should start there. Huldin run is not bad but I am not a fan of this writing. Sadly when it comes to black superheros there is alot lacking from Marvel and DC. There are alot of good ideas but poor executions.

5. With your favorite characters just look over there history and pick out the stories you find interesting. My tastes may be different then yours and when it comes to magneto i prefer 90's magneto better then late 80's magneto who became a hero.

6. The modern age of comics technically started in the mid 70's and is still going on today so you have a big pool but don't deny the art work of Kirby or other legends.

7. It was alright but that really depends on if your really into batman. I liked the change but comic books fans you will find out if you stick around hate change and will bytch about for years until they get what they want (examples are Hal Jorden and Barry Allen)

I kind of want to get more into Static Shock. He's a DC character right? What are some dope comics/storylines involving him?

Also John Stewart's Green Lantern, where should I start with him?

Japan, but from the 989
If you want to catch up with what is happening in the DC universe you need to read. Flashpoint. wikipedia for answers

For Marvel read Age of Ultron and Infinity when it starts. The summer is pretty much major storyline time so you can begin reading now without much need to catch up.
