lol

This is a pretty weak and unfair shot at Kobe.
In 1996 the media hype wasn't anything like it is now.

Anyway Lonzo addressed the questions pretty well.
(didn't watch this video yet but I have seen clips on youtube and twitter today)

what do you mean?
There was no youtube or social media or 24 hour sports news cycle.
There wasn't a direct outlet for players to market themselves or their skills.
And there definitely wasn't any player coming into the league with his own brand.

Athletes today get a ton of exposure and hype because information is so readily available and consumable.

In 1996 the best chance a star athlete could have at being hyped nationally was to be mentioned in Sports Illustrated or on the cover of some basketball magazine.
So trying to compare the hype and media attention that Kobe got in 1995 or 1996 is nothing compared to what a top prospect would receive now.

op didn't say hype/attention, he was talking about the # of press at the event. in '96 the newspaper industry was still popping. it was common for newspapers to have multiple beat writers per team. so this is pretty impressive.

Way more media outlets today. Blogs, webisites like nbadraft.net, online magazines, newspapers, magazines and televisions. Still impressive that this many folk turned out but it's a ton of media now days
