As well, given the current racially charged climate of the American landscape with Barack Obama heading towards his last year in the white house, seemingly endless shootings of unarmed black men and women by police who don't even see any sort of criminal retribution for their acts, growing racial disparities in wealth and in the job market, it's kind of natural that people (especially black people) would see some sort of issue with this given Common's recent comments.

Yes. I know we should just "lighten up" and "stop complaining" in you're eyes and you think our type are "miserable" for actually pointing out the existence of these problems in our social sphere...but you know what...I'm just going to say it, the behavior exhibited in this thread by some of the posters in it is not only bizarre but disheartening.

I don't even get this country anymore. Okay....it's just like because we see common donning a wig and singing a Lionel Richie song or because we see black men and women on TV and in Movies it's like racism on a wide scale never happened and doesn't happen. Like all the events of the past couple of years never happened. I don't even know anymore.

Tbh. I think I'm going to have to take a break from these forums cause this is legit depressing to see the "stop talking about race/if you do you are a militant/you must live a miserable existence/you post this for daps/blah blah blah" talk from black folk on here. Now if his "having fun" and "safe comments" were in the media as much as he (and Ye) giving back to Chicago, I dont think the dancing clip is as big a deal.

More impressionable Black people would see theres a time for work, play, and giving back---- non Black people would see that we are about more than dancing and entertaining. Peoples perceptions shift, and you probably get more support from well meaning people of ALL races.
