Why do the airports into our most famous and rich city (NYC) look the way they do?

1) They are really old.
2) They still perform the function needed.
3) Renovating or replacing an airport in a major city is difficult and expensive.

You know I fukk witchu Orbital, but you’re stating the obvious AND making excuses for one of the richest municipalities in the world, to not have a decent airport. We can 100% have nice airports but no one wants to do it. It about wanting to do it, not the ability to be able to.

I’d even make the case they barely perform the function needed. Super inefficient

4) NYC is grimey as fukk when you get down to it, and I say that as a native New Yorker with love. You can say the same about the subway and bus system. It mostly works but nobody who can make a difference cares that subway stations look like post apocalyptic hellscapes.
