Why do these smileys look like they're a secret language like Morse code?

THAT'S ON THE DIRECTOR RIGHT?

No, that ultimately falls on the script supervisor. Since they’re doing takes they’re supposed to make sure that the scene matches between each take. The director could have caught it, cause they have the IFB’s on and they’re watching after each scene or whatever but mainly they’re listening for audio and looking at the acting.

The editor’s job is to put together a story of whatever footage they have, you can’t make new footage in the editing room.
