One of my coaches tried that with one of my teammates in high school. He completely lost my teammate and some of the team for the rest of the season.

When I was in 8th Grade some dude’s dad hopped out the stands to fight a coach over something like this. The kid was walking away from the coach on the sidelines, so he snatched him by the jersey and started going off on him.

His dad jumped out of the stands and ran up on the coach so fast nobody could stop it. That coach was such a jerk, that none of the other coaches even liked him. He was just a lonely, mean spirited guy. We all savored that ass whooping
