His videos are following the same path he did. Don’t ask me how.

This shyt is brilliant.
People focus on the iconic end dance scene, but the whole shyt was masterfully done.
The mix of real gangsters and professional dancers is seamless.
Dig how MJ uses the furniture and pool tables at the diner as props while he dances.
But he does it so smooth that you don't really notice. Usually when dancers have props, they make a big show of the prop.

Best it is the shyt I don't get how brehs can call it cheesey...it's a classic..in the vein of My Sharon. I think because the kids loved it so much that made it seem cheesy.

It's a great rock song with great guitar parts and for the black people who don't kknow. EDDIE VAN HALEN is the only person who people will call GOAT over Hendrix. He changed the sound of guitar in the 80s and the whole 80s rock guitar sound is in someway copying Eddie.

He was a legend and the best guitarist in the game when he did this track. His solo was probably just a warm up for him..meanwhile it would take other guitarists practicing for months to get it down.

Sidenote Jennifer Batten his guitarist on the Bad Tour plays the solo in the dark:wow:

My Sharona was the musical equivalent of Make America Great Again.
That song was officially sanctioned by the cacs in the music industry to bring RAWK back to dominance in America over the Black music that had been ruling the 70's with disco being the last straw.
Quincy Jones wanted to send a shot back.
He asked MJ to write a rock record.
He told MJ that he wanted him to write "the Black My Sharona".
MJ delivered Beat It.
Recruiting Eddie Van Halen, who like you said, was considered the best guitarist in the world at the time, was Q's idea to give the record both legitmacy with the rock crowd but crossover appeal.
Eddie recorded a few takes for the solo. Quincy compiled pieces that he liked from each take to build the solo on the record.
BTW, "comping a solo" was not a new technique. Solos made of pieces of different takes is the norm.

The rest is history.
So much of Thriller is fueled by retaliation to the overt anti-Black racism of the music industry at the time.

Yall can both hold a 😡

Just ran it back (on YouTube) for the first time in years and damn man.... :wow:
SHYT :damn: It's crazy how this song/video is older than me and I'm still blown away by it.
Issa landmark and it's hard to imagine how there could be any work of art that'll top it. I don't even listen to MJ like that it's just damn facts
Can't imagine watching that live when it first premiered

I remember when it first dropped. I was in elementary school but I was fully aware of the bomb that MJ dropped on the world.

They call this "the soap opera effect".
When flat screen TVs first went mainstream, a lot of people didn't like how it made things look.
The tech industry fixed that after about year or so.

The “soap opera effect” is caused by video interpolation aka motion smoothing, an option that’s usually turned on new TVs by default.

On my TV it’s called Motionflow

Mike definitely had body dysphoria or something:francis: He should have stoped messing with his face and shyt here. I remember as a kid seeing a old JET article from before I was born predicting what stars would look like in the year 2000. This was Mike’s
1985_predictions_what_Michael_Jackson_will_look_like_in_the_year_2000.jpg

He would have looked a a smooth debonair brotha :snoop:

I’m a little confused though. The video for Thriller says uploaded 13 years ago. Has it really been up that long and we’ve just didn’t know or did YouTube backdate the videos?
The video 13 years ago was the 480p version, what happened was that they recently updated the upload a few days ago to the 4k version you’re seeing now, and this same new 4k version is popping up in all the digital stores like Apple store etc.

So it keeps the same view count and stats while being a technical new video. It’s pretty cool because some guy was doing this on his own and uploaded the video to archive.org…so people were worried about the legal issues. With this being released officially it seems like they worked with buddy to get ahold of this

If you are not on a 4k tv/monitor you will not see the difference. Your phone or tablet will show you how amazing this clarity is. Lord have mercy! Looking at this in 4k at 240 fps is unreal

As I told brehs in the midjourney thread. We are the AI era now. Seeing some of the most iconic music videos restored in 4k is unreal. You have to have a really good cpu and patience. The technology is only improving.
