marriage in the bible and quran is just a verbal agreement between two people to stay faithful. its nothing to do with modern marriage that involves legally binding contracts. so for many couple that are together and faithful they are married by biblical standards.

It doesn't make sense and it never will, but it isn't so much about their orientation as it is about conditioning. Christianity is a tradition they were born into. So you can't expect them to give up Christianity anymore than blacks as a whole ever would. What kind of sense does it make to practice the religion of the slave masters? Why haven't we reverted to some form of tribal paganism like our ancestors before they were brought to the Americas? Blacks being practitioners of Candomble or Santeria makes more logical sense than us being primarily christian and muslim.
