Looking back, Common's BE album isn't a classic

Nah, bruh... its still a classic to me. Maybe it was the time when it dropped that made it stand out, but I don't even fukk with common like that and I had this shyt in the deck for a while...

Even the songs i didn't like at first like "Faithful" and "They Say" are very good songs compared to the filler you see on CDs now.

Brehs, my version of They Say has Consequence guesting but on every track listing I see that Kanye is on that track? Has anyone else got the version with Cons? Heard the Kanye version but prefer the Cons one

It's a classic Common album because it was his comeback after people wrote him off for Electric Circus, but it's not really a Hip Hop classic. Common gained some new fans and regained some old ones, but aside from being a great album, what really solidifies this album as a Hip Hop classic?

Even XXL admitted they jumped the gun by hailing it a classic before everyone else even heard it. I don't agree with how they did it, but they retracted Be being a classic. I think they should've waited until after it was released to rate it. They way they did it was a slap in the face to Common.

it was a classic. More importantly hip hop needed it at the time; Common needed it more because of that other unspeakable album before it.
