(Uh!) Uh! We on the hunt tonight
When you see me comin, I don't front I fight
People say I'm contradictin, cause I'm all about peace
To say the least with a violent history
It ain't no mystery these rappers wanna get with me
My people don't see that all they hear is stop hittin me, huh
Stop beatin me Chris, you want to help my career Nelly?
Well you can help if you don't exist, huh
I think it's 'bout time we stop these pop rappers
fukk these pop rappers, hip hop does matter to me
Does it matter to you? My crew
If it does, you know what the hell to do
Throw your guns in the air, pump it like yeah
Let these bytch ass rappers know we in here
Go to the shows huh, boo 'em off stage
Tell 'em KRS told you they at the end of they days
Let me tell you let's give hip hop a lift
And don't buy Nelly's album on June twenty fifth
That'll send a message to all them sellouts
House nikka rapper, your bottom done fell out
You don't even know how
I told you I wasn't talkin about you then, but I'm talkin about you now!
Blaow! one to the kness, blaow one goes right through
Even St. Louis don't like you!!!

krs-one aired nelly out on this song.

Nelly did come out with that I'm #1 shyt. Maybe if he knew his Hip-Hop roots, and\or reached out, he could have avoided that. Reusing someone's song title like that, and coming out bragging like you're the shyt in this culture is kinda asking for it. He got called out. Needs to happen more if you ask me.

He got called out and what happened afterwards?

:what:

stupid logic

song titles aren't exclusive, and you act like Nelly's the only one who bragged about being the best

I see it both ways.

KRS One going at him is Hip Hop/part of MCing. That's where the competition part comes in. Where rappers are kept on their toes because if they get lazy someone could take shots at them that cause problems. Nelly wasn't completely innocent but he certainly wasn't dissing KRS One at that point.

On the other hand, there was no real need for it. By that point these golden laws of Hip Hop, the 9 elements, all that was a distant memory once Hip Hop turned the corner as a main genre of mainstream music in America. It was a battle he wasn't going to win because anyone who felt it was 'Hip Hop' wasn't listening to Nelly like that anyways. For everyone else who had a good time partying to these simple songs with good beats and catchy hooks he sounded bitter.

Nelly was so much better than this Trap generation of party music. Period.
Nelly was not wack till KRS-One started saying it.

Whatever, b. If you know MC/battle culture, it makes total sense.

It makes zero sense regardless of mc/battle culture because :krs: only applies it to targets he thinks are easy. If he really followed those rules and has diss records for every top 10 singles rapper like he claims, why hasn't he gotten at them? They make all the same claims of bragging/being the best but KRS only got at Nelly.
