I still fukk with Ma$e, Dude was putting in Work. Sure he wasn't so Piff next to Cam but when he was on his Bad Boy Flow... :whew:

Harlem World was Piff to me and he had nikkas making bets like "Did he fukk her yet?" so :salute:

Imma say this. There's a lot of revisionist history going on at this board when it comes to Ma$e. Im old enough to remember how Ma$e was considered the anti-christ when he was poppin. I used to listen to college radio and the wake up show every week as a youngin, and without fail DJ's, MC's, and callers would all go off on how light in the ass Ma$e was and how he was everything wrong with hip hop at the time. Especially after that 'Take me there' Rugrats video dropped. The hip hop community wanted to kill his black ass.

This is why I appreciate mainstream artists today, rather than go out of my way to be negative and hate. Better to appreciate a rapper in the moment, than look back with nostalgia colored glasses 10 years later and say 'oh, he wasnt so bad...he was actually dope!".
Yep. I hated Mase at the time (still copped Harlem World...how could you not?)...but listening to those songs now? The talent is undeniable. Technically speaking...he was a beast. He just didn't stand out for that back then b/c there were so many rappers in the mainstream and underground who could do that. Plus Big L >>> Mase.

quite a few nikkas i knew couldn't stand his music but ma$e could rhyme and talented as fukk. he still knows how to rhyme too. he got a classic verses, songs and album. second album got that unfair hate but it had some gems on it. his freestyles were great, he got a distinct voice, different but good flow and delivery and he could do both street songs as well as mainstream shyt with ease

ma$e still got nikkas quotin' him over almost 20 years later; from drake's corny ass (pause) to jigga, to kanye, to even 50 and pusha t did a whole damn song imitatin' him and fabolous has eaten off his plate ever since he came on the scene. ma$e is a legend no matter how you look at it lol
