Back in 96/97 it was the shyt. They fell off by 98 and started getting bootlegged heavily. You couldn't tell the real fubu from the fake fubu. Then they started that Fat Albert shyt and went down hill from there. It was a decent brand before the knockoffs started killing it.
I was a kid then. I thought it fell off in late 1999, 2000?

Yeah, I wasn't cool enough to really pull off either when I was 14, though. I still wore really dorky clothes with video game stuff on it.

Before they really took a nosedive they were being bootlegged crazy. That was around 98/99. By 2000 they were pretty much dead but death spiraled for another couple of years. The bootlegging and the shytty Fat Albert design basically killed the brand. It got so crazy that I remember them coming up with that Platinum Fubu shyt.

Fubu became a status brand. They've slid down though. Now, that hand-me downs show up on homeless bums, like maybe a sweatshirt that was really hip and expensive years ago.

When I was 14 my mom took me to the Marshall's for back to school shopping and held up a gigantic sweater across her chest to show it to me. She had no idea about any kinds of brands, so she asked in the nicest little mom voice, "Mijo! Would you like this big comfy sweater?" She looks down to read it label. "It says Phat Pharm! Is that cool?" To this day I smile every time I recall that memory and am tempted to call my mom to tell her hello. She was a good mom. :jawalrus:

No it wasn't up until it started doing too much...

but we NEED more brands like this...we NEED to support our own. Instead of Versace, Versace, Versace we should be heralding some upscale BLACK designers name. We bash these brothas clothes, but they innovated. Instead of trying to bring back all this old designers stuff, some of these black celebrities need to help Fubu, Wu-Wear, and countless other BLACK designers come up or get their stuff out to the public...

I had a couple of FUBU outfits, I liked them cuz they were stylish and even popular back in the day. When I learned about FUBU itself, I made a conscious effort to support them brothas. Had some Fat Albert gear (just 2 shirts) also.

Wish we would stop hating on our own. These brothas should be praised for doing what they did...
