Countless hours searching for work. I'm putting in about 8 hours a day looking for work talking to folks sending out resumes and filling out applications and nothing.

I've had a couple of interviews but nothing has come of them yet. I'm kinda getting depressed because i need to get one already.

shyt its hard out here. I'm kind regretting leaving StateFarm.

Can anyone help me out with any tips.

This a real thread. Please don't come in here trying to downtalk or have little jokes.

Thanks In Advance

You need to have someone review your resume to make sure it's atleast capable of getting your foot in the door. Also, make sure that you are able to articulate in detail how you would be a good fit for a company. Work on your interview skills, have a friend sit down with you and do a mock interview and record yourself. It's hard out there, but maybe it's something in your resume or presentation that is making things a bit more difficult.

Keep your head up its a difficult market with employers not wanting to hire and can post a position and get thousands of applicants for that one posting... That means employees can pay top candidates below market prices because of this nature. Differentiate yourself all employees want a value adder.. One common saying that I always heard and it is true becauae i use hire and manage is managers want 2 things... A worker that can make their life easier and a worker that came make them look good. Try and position yourself to have them feel that you are a asset

Here are a couple of tips:

only apply for a job you want.... dont get a job just to get a job then you will have a lot of short term jobs on your resume and it will be harder for you ....look for a home...

there are associations for every industy for example if you are looking to get into marketing or something similar go online and search for the local marketing association those sites have job banks....if you do not see a job you like go to the member list.....the member list will have have each members website addy go to each individual site and check out career opportunities.....sites like craigslist, monster dont always have the best job and there are a lot of scams/sales jobs...

when you find a job look at the requirements/responsibilities section alter your resume to reflect most if not all of these requirements....the more similar your resume is to the job post the better....make sure to alter your all of your job experiences as well....do not send every job the same resume as this is not a cookie cutter process..

for the cover letter tailor it to the job.....Go to the company's website read it do research use examples such as their case studies or company philosophy and adopt it to your cover letter.....

This is my cover-letter What you think

Hello

I have included my most current resume as required. Please consider this as my letter of interest for this position. I am diligent, motivated, flexible and have a good work ethic to offer a potential employer. I also have excellent customer service, collection, and credit analyst skills. I’m adept at both oral and written communication and interact effectively with all individuals. Professionalism and maintaining company standards as well as my own personal standards is very important to me. I am always willing to help coworkers, enjoy a team environment and am known to be a fair, honest and dependable employee. I have a valid driving license and previous experience with handling confidential information such as; credit card numbers, social security numbers and bank loan information. I am looking for a company where I can contribute my skills, professionalism and dedication. I believe I would be a valuable asset to your company. If it appears that my qualifications meet your needs, I will be happy to discuss my background in a personal meeting.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely, Morethan1 (real-name)

Also network!!! in this environment it's mostly who you know..i was trying to get back into public relations marketing so i came out of pocket and joined the local PRSA and Marketing Association and attended functions...i worked the room solo and collected business cards...dont look or sound desperate make it seem like it's your choice and your looking for the best home for you.....when you collect a card wait a day or two and shoot an email saying what a pleasure it was to meet them and ask for permission to send your resume in case there are any openings...if this is around the holidays send an email to each person you met saying merry christmas happy thanksgiving whatever shows your thoughtful, organized and know how to stay in touch good qualities

this sounds kinda cookie cutterish...so make sure you put the title of the job in there as well so it doesnt look like your sending the same letter to everyone

Thank you for your consideration.

pretty good but try to avoid "I" dont want to make it all about you..your kinda over using I....don't be afraid to quote something from their site and show how it relates to you i.e mission statement.....also describe how you can be a benefit to them like using examples of responsibilities at previous jobs.....makes sure you come full circle and the end is matching the beginning of the letter....and at the end you need a call to action i.e i look forward to hearing from you soon....or if you have any questions feel free to contact me .......

Cover letter tells me absolutely nothing about you. Talk about pertinent education, extra curriculars that may round you out as a candidate, trade associations you apart of, etc

Do you have a paragraph about the company and why you'd be interested in the position?

Also, aren't you a felon? Do you check that box on the application?

What exactly do you have experience in?

Sign up on linkedIn and find a recruiter/headhunter for your industry/function, they'll come to you with job opportunities.
