I'm 30 too, got in this at 23. I finished IEC 2017. I don't watch youtubers, I always learned by paying attention and asking questions while it's going on. It's different seeing it in the field, and seeing it in a controlled environment like a youtube video. I hate remodels. Have you asked what the MC you are running is for? Power? Lighting? Mechanical?
They seem stir crazy because of the layoffs they hearing about.
We’re running it for lighting mostly. But now that you mention it I know for a fact some of them were for power. I need to know the sort of questions to ask, tbh. I’ve mainly been running MC that they tell me to and trying to do it right and put up beam clamps and shyt in the cleanest way possible. All I’ve been focused on mostly since I know it’ll all be exposed.
The lights that we’re supposed to be installing were supposed to be delivered my first day, Monday. Still hasn’t came. So they’ve been trying to stay busy and it’s not going well so far lol. And yeah I’m lucky I’ve got guys who aren’t annoyed by my question asking. Because I’m asking questions pretty much all the time. I guess since they have nothing to do training me up is better than nothing especially when I come in with an attitude of “I’m here to help you finish your job and learn.” I have no reason to fake like I know what’s going on. I’m as green as they come.
Our project manager on this one is young and just...kinda bad at getting back to the journeymen when they ask him to look into stuff. Probably their major source of frustration. I understand the situation with the virus fukking things up, but not returning calls or texts and not letting people get updates on if we should expect deliveries when we were told to expect them...just not professional.
edit: also I’m kinda tipsy so sorry if I’m rambling a bit
