Also...wasn't the Indian call center dude saying that Kendrick's album wasn't an album, it was an art piece? Surely an "art piece" doing 295k is super impressive based on this framing right? But no, said Indian call center dude made at least 100 posts across multiple sales threads lambasting Kendrick.

Using his own logic, whether the album was rap or dance or an art piece, it should sell a certain amount or is a flop. So I don't want to hear a damn thing from him.

i agree with the whole post, this is funny a hell. :laff: :laff: :laff: :laff: :laff: :laff: :laff: :laff: :laff:

Had to hit you with a low quality post warning off this dumb ass take.

Nas been rapping since 1991. Drake is in the prime of his career. There is no "difference of opinion", it's apples and oranges.

Fred.

Thank you!

Whats the diiference? The difference Nas did live at the BBQ when I was 8 (Im 39 now)....Drake is the "best, the current king" right? These stans. :dead:

How the mighty have fallen. Comparing the expectations for the biggest rapper in the world to a legacy artist who has no radio footprint anymore. 22k is solid for Nas, 27 YEARS into his career. You know what’s not solid? Under 300k for the biggest rapper in the world. I said it for Kendrick and I’ll say it for drake because I’m not a coward.

IF these projections hold up, you lose.

They desperate. Comparing Drake to the QB Vet on his 27th summer. :wow:

What does this have to do with anything..I’m not comparing the numbers ..in comparing the drop offs in numbers relative to their projects

You were lambasting Magic's numbers when it dropped, now the drop off from KDII to Magic is suddenly comparable to Drake's new album :heh:

Congrats to Nas doing tunechi throwaways with rich the kid numbers

must be magic :dead:

And since you ask, the difference is Drake is supposedly the biggest star in music right now and Nas isn't. Shouldn't the biggest artist not just in hip-hop but in popular music be selling more than this, even on a surprise drop?

Even Nas biggest supporters on this site will tell you his commercial peak was 20+ years ago. No one is expecting Nas to do much sales wise at this stage, especially on a surprise drop during Christmas. Obviously Nas fans want Nas to do good sales wise because he's one of the best to ever do it but no one is claiming he's gonna outsell everybody. We're mostly just happy with the quality music he has been giving us with Hit-Boy and support him however we can so he can keep giving us quality music. It's y'all who are so obsessed with numbers and Drake outselling Kendrick and Cole and who is the most popular and no album is good unless it moves 600k first week. Well now the shoe is on the other foot and y'all getting a taste of your own medicine. Drake put out an album of literal throwaway elevator music and now the wear and tear in his armor is showing. But the truth is Drake fans harp on the numbers because no one with a straight face could tell you this album that sounds like the shyt they would play at a supermarket in West Hollywood is better than Mr. Morale or Magic.

It’s not about numbers in that sense..if that was the case, I could ride out on the “biggest dance album first week” of all time or whatever the record was that he broke..

I’m talking numbers relative to their own careers, plans and so on..

There is NO DIFFERENCE in Nas doing 60 to 20k under literally the same exact circumstances as drake doing 600 to 200..except Nas didn’t switch up genres

Those 40k Nas fans that didn’t come around for magic didn’t know about the album…just like those 400k drake fans didn’t know nor have interest in a dance album..

The number itself 20k is hilarious and that’s what I was joking about in that thread

*It quoted you twice..couldn’t delete it

Not comparing the careers

I’m comparing the narrative from when Nas dropped king disease 2 to the unannounced surprise album MAGIC …went from like 60k to 20k

To drake dropping CLB to the unannounced surprise Album 600 to 200

It’s basically the same math..but yet the “the numbers won’t be the same cuz it’s a surprise on a holiday weekend” logic only applies to one of the rappers

Why is that?

No I see what your saying and its fair.

Both dropped with only a few hours notice, on holiday weekends with no other promo or single. Both came less than a year after albums that had been properly marketed well in advance.

By comparing sales of both albums to their direct predecessors they’d be considered sales disappointments; the DIFFERENCE is , and mind you i’ve been consistent in saying this…

Drake is a POP STAR. Nas is not. Nas is one of only two RAP STARS from his generation that can still move top 5 placing units with proper promotion and marketing. Drake is in the category of Adele, Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, & Beyonce. When they drop the WORLD is on notice. Drake shouldn’t be compared to Nas or any other rapper, but since we’re forcing him into the category, people heard Magic and the reception was overwhelmingly positive to the point its actually the second most acclaimed project of the Hit Boy collaboration era. People heard Honestly, Nevermind and the reception has been negative. When you have both a sales AND critical flop and you’re the second biggest Pop Star in the WORLD (Behind only Adele and he ranks no less than third if you want to include BTS) then that should tell you you fukked up SOMEWHERE along the way.
