The views remain in many (not all) white people, but it has morphed into a colonialist spin. They justify stealing land from the Native Americans, colonizing India and Africa, etc based on the idea that the original race wasn't using the land right, thus the white man had to take it and make it better.
Have you guys noticed how many republicans attack Obama for allegedly having an "anti-colonial" mindset? What does that say about them - they support colonialism. They aren't even hiding it anymore.
Language. Shift the words but the motive remains the same.
I'm convinced these people back then, and now, are suffering from mental illness, and its symtpom is racism, white supremacy. They have all the symptoms of paranoid schizophrenics. They may not be diagnosed with that specific illness, but its in the ball park. Until whites confront the fact that a lot of the people they love are really sick in the head, racism will go unchecked, and we will keep seeing as something that is childish. Check this out:

"Paranoid
schizophrenia is a subtype of schizophrenia in which the patient has delusions (false beliefs) that a person or some individuals are plotting against them or members of their family. Paranoid schizophrenia is the most common schizophrenia type.
The majority of people with paranoid schizophrenia, as with most schizophrenia subtypes may also have auditory hallucinations - they hear things that are not real. They may also have delusions of personal grandeur - a false belief that they are much greater and more powerful and influential than they really are.
An individual with paranoid schizophrenia may spend a disproportionate amount of time thinking up ways of protecting themselves from their persecutors.
Typically, a person with paranoid schizophrenia has fewer problems with memory, dulled emotions and concentration compared to those with other subtypes; which allows them to think and function more successfully. Even so, paranoid schizophrenia is a chronic (long-term, lifelong) condition which may eventually lead to complications, including
suicidal thoughts and behavior"
Doesn't this sound like a lot of conservatives or racists people?
The hoarding of guns, thinking others are plotting to destroy them, always worried about the end of the world, feeling the need to rule over others, willing to kill to protect a false belief.
