Blacks voted for Obama for obvious reasons. Now they have no reason to vote.

I don't even know If I'm going to vote, but the thought of a Trump presidency is reason enough to cast a ballot. Also what about the local election, if I do go vote that's the real reason I"m going. Local is a huge deal.

To the people saying that the decrease in black turnout is due to Obama not being on the ticket, that would be persuasive if early voting results in other states/cities saw the same trend. The fact that black early voting is relatively on par or higher than 2012 levels in most other states means there is something different about NC. The concerted Republican push in the state to suppress black voting is likely a large contributor.

Why were they expecting blacks to turn out for Hillary like they did for Barack?

the suppression is there, but i really wonder if they just didn't want to come out for hillary clinton :yeshrug:

this is interesting because it could really be a combination of both. hillary is :scusthov:, but obviously the republicans in that state are too, and their tactics were clearly effective to at least a degree

Why are you guys ignoring the comparison to Black voter turnout in other states in THIS election???

If this were just a case of people not being hyped for Clinton like they were for Obama, why didn't Florida, Georgia and Louisiana also see that reduction?

I'm in NC and I voted early. All I did was fill in the bubble next to Roy Cooper's name (He's running against Pat "fukkin up this money" McCrory) and wrote in Eric B under the Fill in the blank part for the president.

Some black guy running for some office was campaigning in the front but he looked like a c00n so I didn't vote for him.

you got a point.
But that's not enough data to say that. You have to look at the trends for a longer period of time.

Were they down in 2000, 2004, 2008? etc
