The "maxing" rhetoric comes straight from videogames.
And this attempt to "Gamify" life is very younger millenial/older gen z coded.
I'm young enough that I recognize much of this but old enough to know a lot of it
is just remixes of already very old shyt.
Makes sense...I remember seeing this kind of content blow up on tiktok right around 2021. Clicked not interested every time.

I dont know if its different today but back in the day "looks maxing" just meant working on yourself to look as good as you possibly can, even if you aren't that good looking.I got braces and was told I needed jaw surgery, too. I googled the surgery and found some looksmaxing forum and these guys are nuts lol.
Talking bout if the angle of your upper jaw is off by more than 3 degrees, then there's no hope, and you should kill yourself
For example a flabby breh with a weak jaw should get swole and grow a beard, thats an example of looks maxing.

but saw this shyt in real time. its one few terminally online lores i have. puahate was the place that "birthed" these terms. it started as counter to the pickup forums of the early 00s & done as an ironic means to mock the idea all you needed to have "game". it went down & those dudes flooded the internet going to chan, bb.com misc, reddit & made forums. this coincided with the early social media boom & blossomed with fitness. the whole zyzz "we're gonna make it brah". "why lift when its all about the face", LMS - looks, money, status. the were the precusors of what became redpill, mgtow, looksmaxxers. these terms were niche but gained more public notoriety when incels started catching bodies. the reason you didn't hear as much of it is because each one of them has the same premise but the people at the forefront of the movement, used different terms. rollo tomassi was fukking 40 ofc he won't say lookmaxxing. instead he'll use self improvement. rather than saying mogged, he'll say dark triad score. what's happened tho is over time is gen z has adopted the original ironic verbiage. frame?? is now aura. its the same original shyt re-purpose in both ironi/unironic.
