This is true, Jamar himself said this once. Them religious books got a crazy hold on people.

I once read a theory that the belief systems in our minds are connected similar to an intricate spider web. If one of those are irrational then they would have to be connected to other irrational beliefs because the mind wants consistency. If you snip at a core belief the entire web begins to collapse so people latch on to things that help sustain them even when challenged with new information.
