Yeah Evidence snapped this year. Both albums are dope and different in many ways. One got some cuts I like to smoke to in the step brothers project and the other one is more for the hip hop heads.

Step by a mile. DoP kind of trails off toward the end. I like it, but overall it didnt smack me in the face like Step Brothers did...and i wasnt exactly in a rush to hear an album with Alc rapping on every track. They brought it.

Damn. 9 to 0 for Lord Steppington. As it should be.

Good call. Directors is a good album, but production wise I just couldn't get into most of the album. It's not even bad. It's just kind of middle of the road for me. There's about 5-6 joints that I play regularly, and the rest I end up skipping. I really tried to like it, but I just can't get into it that much. I will say that it's arguably their best album lyrically.

Steppington is one of the best releases this year. Ev had some different flows and styles on there, and the randomness of his verses fit the theme of the album. As far as ALC, I thought it was his best effort rhyme-wise (moreso than the Gangrene albums) There's even 1 or 2 songs where you could argue Alchemist had the best verse, which rarely is the case. The guest spots were all pretty much perfect. They had a great mix of old and current cats that they are known for working with.

The production is probably a top 3 ALC collab album from the "Covert Coup to now" era (2011-2014). There's maybe 2 or 3 beats on out of 16 there that I didn't think were dope.

Cocaine Piñata is still the album of the year, but...Lord Steppington is top 3, probably #2. IMO of course.

I can't stop playing Directors Of Photography. If you would have told me 14 years ago that i'd be somewhat of an Evidence fanboy in the '10's i'd have laughed out loud.

That's some truth right there. I used to honestly skip his verses on Dilated's early albums. Now it's almost reversed. I got into Ev on The Layover EP and went back and got into The Weatherman LP, which I slept on bad when it dropped. I think him making personal joints without being emo is what got me to take notice. That and his flow and delivery got way better.

I remember when I first became a big Alchemist fan I was pissed that Panic didn't have Rakaa on it. Still one of ALC's best beats ever, and now I'm actually Glad Rakaa just talked between the verses. I think it works well.

I agree but I thought DoP got better at the end. The ALC and 9th Wonder joints that close out the album are 2 of my top 5 on the album. That's one of my favorite Alchemist beats the past few years, and the 9th one is fire too. It's a little busy with the sample playing all through the verses, but it was a nice way to close the album I thought.

Plus the 2 iTunes bonus joints I play more than most of the album cuts. The Hallelujah joint has pretty damn good verses from everyone, solid beat. Fash, Ev, Action, Rapsody, and even Domo all killed it. It's not really a song, just some 16s, so I can see why they left it off.

The other one, Times Squared, should've been on the album somewhere.
