This has nothing to do with housing. Those homeless people are just mentally ill. Lack of housing is not what's causing someone to think they work for the FBI, shyt in front of businesses, and become aggressiveness towards random people. They need to be forced into mental facilities.
You would think the gov would do something to make a profit off them. They do it with convicts, why not the mentally ill?

Notice you don’t have any counter-suggestions or ideas. Just criticisms. Which is actually typical of this forum :mjlol:

housing first for all homeless families and individuals.

provide affordable housing and even free housing for the mentally ill. the cost\benefits are immediate. Less, violence, less vagrancy and property damage. Less crime, which will lead to police resources being devoted to more serious matters.

housing and mental health treatment for the homeless would go a long way to improving things.

Finland's ‘Housing First' policy proves that homelessness is avoidable

the problems this would solve is damn near incalculable. loitering would plummet, improved sanitation and hygiene would lead to fewer illnesses being transmitted. How many calls to police about homeless vagrancy, public urination/defecation, business owners complaints, panhandling wouldn't have to be made and responded to? Homelessness increases crime so after providing them housing society would see fewer assaults, murders, rapes, sex-trafficking, prostitution, drug abuse, theft, robberies and property damage.

Coli NYC OGs, what happened to all the homeless people around NYC in the 80s? I’ve heard they were flooding the city back then, similar to LA. What eventually happened to them?

Ronald Reagan been out of office for over 3 decades not one president since then has managed to turn things around? This is why politics is a joke.
What would you suggest be done about the situation?

Shelter System Reforms

During the Koch Administration in 1986, the mayor implemented a housing initiative called “Housing New York,” which created 150,000 affordable apartments citywide, with at least 15,000 apartments targeted to homeless households (1). The number of homeless families dropped from 5,100 to 3,600 families, a 29 percent decline, from 1988 through 1990.

When David Dinkins became the mayor in 1990, he adopted a liberal approach in treating homelessness. He called for creating transitional apartments and permanent housing, as well as specialized services for the homeless people living with disabilities and special needs.

I'm sure that explained part of it, but from my understanding the NYC homeless were overwhelmingly older single men. Now that I think of it, the harsh elements (eg NYC winters) combined with their poor health from being homeless probably killed a lot of them off eventually.

:wow:

They gave corporations big tax breaks while they all left for cheaper labor & no regulations in China then turned around & blamed China

That was the most traitorous thing ever.

Slab City is :hhh: .
I’ve stayed there a few times. There’s a dope lil artist enclave called East Jesus that lets you stay with them for a few nights. They buried a city bus halfway in the ground and added some “rooms”. I usually stay in that. Super fun to get faded and have no rules in the desert.
