I’m not a patriot, but did 2/3’rds as much time in the Army as she did in the Air Force. She was security forces which is basically a security/gate guard for Air Force bases. She did more deployments but they rarely ever see any actual combat. I can confidently say I did and saw more than her, during my time.
That being said I don’t feel a damn thing. She’s dead over her own stupidity. The whole world got to watch her self-realization of her own mortality, and lack of utility, as her weak ass life drain from her eyes. She’s dead and I get to enjoy whatever life I have left.
Full military honors is a burial in the place of your families choosing (local cemetery or military cemetery). A hastily trained local color guard arrives and shoddily does their thing. The bugle they place has a speaker device inside it that plays taps when you hit the switch and pretend to blow into it. They remove and fold the flag, hand it to your loved ones, then stand by as everyone leaves. During my pop’s burial I introduced myself and thanked them because it was an E-7 with a group of extremely nervous Pvt’s and Spc’s (that were probably told they were on the detail at the last minute lol). You get the real deal, with the old guard, if you’re buried somewhere like Arlington.
Some people see it as a big deal, some of us don’t. I’m eligible for full burial honors, but don’t plan on using them. At the end of the day she still dead and the replay is on the internet forever.
