Excited as fukk. Lost my job a couple of months ago. Went into hibernation to focus on my interview skills and mastering common technical questions, patterns, system design and algorithms. Just signed on with a well known company for a salary plus stock options that totals 200k+. Ask me anything. Willing to share how I went about everything for those curious.

Could you recommend some good study aids for system design questions?
For my current job i had to design an elevator system but i think the interviewer was being mad nice as far as hints and stuff
another time i had to design a card game and i bombed. I want to be as fluent in the system design part as the white boarding next time i start looking

Ok read thru the thread and i see your recommendation for system design, thanks
200k all in in Atlanta is crazy, congrats on that. I just assumed you were in nyc or the bay.
looks like we have similar background. I'm about a decade in sr. engineer working with java8/angular/spring boot stack. i do alot of perl and actionscript legacy code too but probably won't even mention that next time i start interviewing.
I keep going on hacker news and levels.fyi and getting mad as hell at the salaries ppl talk about. dudes talking like making $300k is normal or some shyt. time for me to get out my comfort zone and just do the cracking the code/leetcode bootcamp

300 total comp I assump. Seem like in the Bay and NYC thats becoming normal for Senior level roles (with many companies giving dudes 500k+ at lead roles)

What do you do to keep your mind sharp and your head less clouded in this day and age? There is so much bullshyt out there competing for our time that sitting down and putting the time to skill up in anything had never been harder. On someday my mind feel sharp, on others I'm running on some bullshyt and can't focus.

Do you work with Business Analysts? What are their workloads/pay like in your current, or previous gigs?

Thanks Breh. Gonna look into this. Life is going well right now. Got out to Chitown, so right now I'm skilling up to start looking into some better positions by June. DevSecOps is calling my name.

Along with this I'd like to get some better rest as well. Gonna work on that.

Current CompSci student I have 2 more years till I get my degree. I'm confident in my knowledge of Data Structures and Algorithm analysis and design for interviewing. My focus right now is on building a portfolio and getting an internship and/or a job before I graduate. I really want to get into AI/Machine Learning because I see that's big at the Elite CompSci schools like MIT, Stanford, etc..

Congrats man, I’ve been thinking about getting into this even at my age. I’m 29 and am in stationary engineering and have always wondered if I could do more.

Same here. I’m 31 With a mechanical engineering degree currently working in manufacturing. I’ve been trying to get into computer science myself but feels like it’s too late

Ended a SOC Analyst internship in June but still not quite where I want to be yet. Had a couple of interviews that didn't fall through. :snoop:

Gotta sharpen my blade.
Every failed interview gets you one step closer to your dream job. Maintain a positive outlook on life and don't stop applying until you accomplish your goal.
