He was joking around with Patrice, who thought it was funny, too. I agree that Opie and Anthony are clowns who often say racist shyt, but Louis CK is operating on a very different wavelength. He was telling the joke with the intent of subversion, the same as when George Carlin used it. Now, you might not agree with his provocative use of the word at all, which is fine, and every Black person's right, but it's not fair to put it in the same category as someone saying it maliciously. His intent was to demonstrate how the anti-Black mindset works by talking about how overloaded the word was with irrational, racist weight. The point is that the word is so filled with excess that even a historical attempt to explain it falls short- hence the idea that it wasn't even a word with a real origin, but that it was some kind of transcendent feeling or concept that just called the word forth out of the white man.
