Well, I've made my point here.

Ya'll keep gassing up talentless, wack ass comedians, who like to tell you how you should feel about their material, rather than it actually being funny and poignant and their talents speaking for themselves. You go ahead and fall right in line, tho.

:win:

who's your top 5 comedians who are currently doing standup?

I'm not reading all 16 pages of this ... but I saw a lot more "white guilt" than racism in the original video.

What's funny to me here is the desperate attempt by some to claim CK is not funny. This is one of the more successful comedians in the world, with co-signs from every single one of his peers. Few people are more universally accepted as "funny" than Louis CK.

I get that some people don't like his willingness to tackle every topic (maybe some that he shouldn't -- but that's part of what makes great comedy), but saying he's not good at his job is just dumb.

He's not funny at all to me. Bill Burr is my fav right now.

i gotta admit, i'd cringe if i heard bill burr say ****** :wow:

Me too but he isn't racist tho. He's edgy it seems but far from racist. None of the clips in here offended me, just wanted to have a better understanding of the context.

You have a right to that opinion, obviously ... but it's hard to deny his universal acceptance in the comedy community (fans and performers).

I'm a fan of bill burr ... and Stanhope, and jim jefferies, and a thousand other comics. And all them are fans of Louis CK.

To me, it's like saying Stevie Ray Vaughn can't play guitar. He may not have invented the style he played ... but he certainly mastered it.

The clip in OP is a very poor example of CK being racist. Race humor is at its best when it subverts the status quo rather than upholds it and subverting is what he did in that clip.

^^Here is where I don't fukk with this guy at all. Just a flagrant, boneheaded, senseless use of the n-word just to say it (hipster racism). Gervais really showed his bytch ass here and Chris Rock looked like a fool just sitting there and not saying anything.

the conversation with seinfeld, ricky, chris and louie is in context of chris rock's infamous "black people/******s" joke. it's not just louis getting his rocks off saying a word most white people won't touch

i've always felt comedians feel an unspoken obligation to laugh at and/or defend their contemporaries' acts. like they've all been through the fire and will back each other up no matter what. kinda like a union that refuses to crack even when it seems that one of them has done wrong.

it gets awkward when people outside of that circle witness their conversations, like in the clip i'm referring to.

Talking Funny - N*gger Bit (Chris Rock, Jerry Sienfield, Ricky Gervais, Louis CK) - YouTube

Seinfeld seemed to be genuinely upset about him using the word.

Yup. And props to him for that.

CK wasn't making any sort of point in that video just throwing it around gratuitously to be edgy (hipster racism).

But TS really self ethered himself by posting an example of CK actually acknowledging and criticizing white privilege. He really does have questionable moments as the video I posted illustrates.

You sure? I have to admit I haven't seen the full clip.

Chris Rock was fukking stupid for making that joke though. He gave white people a licence to call black people ******s and feel absolved and "guiltless" about their racist views of blacks. I can't count how many times I've seen white people say ":whoa: no, dude, I don't mean ALL black people...just the ******s" or some variation as a result :snoop:.

it's pretty clear based on chris rock affirming it when louie says "so i'm a ******, basically'.

and yeah the joke backfired in the long run. another one of those "in the circle" jokes that takes on a different shape when heard by those outside of it. that's why he refuses to do it anymore, as he says at the end of the clip.
