The first episode felt like a video game intro.
I learned today the director of the The Witness was the art director of Into the Spiderverse.

I learned from googling which led me to reddit that some of these or maybe all came from short stories...Zima Blue and Beyond the Aquila Rift wrote by the same person.. Imma have to check the book out.
I think it's basically like Mass Effect with the relays. The one they went through at The beginning fd up and sent the thousands of light years off course to the universe with the spider people. The spider was at her universe's version of a space station and basically was creating the simulations so the people who got stranded there didn't suffer too much as they slowly died far from home with no way back.Spoiler
