I think what we as a society don't talk about often is how men fail to love themselves. Society is always preaching to women about self-esteem and removing baggage but I think what causes men to fail in relationships is they don't love themselves. A lot of men harbor childhood trauma from not being attractive enough or cool enough for the girl they liked. (Mind you there could have been another girl who wanted them but they were too busy ignoring her but that's another topic). As they grow up, they put all their self worth in appealing to the masses. All they strive for is to get the biggest bootied, long haired chick they can find. The type of chick whose sole purpose is to make other men jealous, ignoring all her other unattractive qualities. Then went shyt hits rock bottom, his self-esteem is shot even more and he repeats the cycle bc he has to "prove" himself.

I legit think this post is even more important than the OP. I feel like nowadays people are becoming more hip to this "amor renaissance" but boys and girls are still too exposed when it comes not learning to love themselves in this sea of "Being a man means X" "Good girls are the ones that do Y". We all ought to teach our children that. The love of self, in depth. Let's stop pretending that these are things our children will just somehow learn on their own when they're older.

I legit think this post is even more important than the OP. I feel like nowadays people are becoming more hip to this "amor renaissance" but boys and girls are still too exposed when it comes not learning to love themselves in this sea of "Being a man means X" "Good girls are the ones that do Y". We all ought to teach our children that. The love of self, in depth. Let's stop pretending that these are things our children will just somehow learn on their own when they're older.
