His music after And Then There Was X wasn't that great to begin with
LOL I was gonna say, most of his music post that album wasn't good on first thought, no revisionist history necessary.

Though I liked Grand Champ

I love X but Flesh of My Flesh was kinda ass....and everything after that, forget it. Dude was not good at crafting a complete album, and truth be told Ruff Ryders had a wack team of producers.
It was a drop from Dark but that album is still fire to me. 4/5

"Up In Here" is his biggest hit.I've seen 70 yr old women quote that hook.

Slipping is his best song

Niccaz Done Started Something is his best verse.

But that's just my opinion
Respectable opinions

Slippin is like his 10th best song to me, personally tho. Still fire though.

All three of his first albums have A LOT of gems and classics. Nyggas done started something is definitely a top three verse for him, it's crazy because that was Mase's best verse EVER, a classic by Jadakiss and sheek, but they were all destroyed by x.

Aint nothing lmfao about Slipping being his best song.He put his soul in that track.

His verse on Niccaz Done Started Something>>>>> or = to any verse on Get At Me Dog.

Niccaz Done Started Something is his biggest blackout moment

No Father To MY Style.. A Son Unique
i honestly lost complete interest in x with "and then there was x..."

before that.. the first 2 albums being incredible... the belly soundtrack, the features, dj clue and flexes mixtapes.. that was the best period for x

i wasnt feeling the beats, the songs, the lyrics.. nothing. x lost his edge after 'flesh of my flesh' imo. it was completely different sound wise from "its dark.." but was still very very dope. but 'and then there was x' went too far in that direction and the lack of the gritty dame grease beats hurt him to me.

i just didnt like that album, the compilations or the great depression.... they were just average to me. half listenable, half not.

and this is off my opinion when it dropped.. i havent listened to this since like 02 but i remember really not liking it then minus like 5 joints...nothing jumps out to me getting classic status

dame greases songs were cool tho. i just think the synthy sound swizz and pk n them did peaked with flesh of my flesh. it got boring and repetitive after that which makes sense being so keyboard heavy. xs production was primarily swizz, pk, damegrease and the occasional pop producer liek just blaze or irv gotti. he needed more variety and i think his sound became stagnant because 4-5 straight albums had the same producers. 'flesh of my flesh' was a update in sound from 'its dark' but it didnt really transition from there

You know what it is? DMX just has such a grimey voice that certain types of production will fit him right. I just wish the labels he's been on would have paid attention to that more. He'll always have those singles that capture his gritty style right but whole albums? Eh, maybe the 2nd one. I just hate when they give him certain kind of beats that never fit him.

thats the root of why his catalog is actually quite mediocre........letting bum nikkas like Swizz, Dame Grease, Nokio be the architects of his sound.......truth be told hed have been better off with Jays Vol 1 era production team....Clark Kent, Ski, Hitmen/Puffy

Swiss now...yeah. Back then, he had beats that sounded like he threw a keyboard down a flight of stairs. Lol. But I can't knock Dame tho. Dame is more so hit or miss but he would make it work when he did good. I agree Clark Kent, Ski, Hitmen, Puff, and a few others. Premo would have given him some shyt like he gave ODB for "Pop Shots".

Dame Grease provided DMX with his best ever work.

Honestly DMX should've stuck with Grease and Irv Gotti for production. They fit his style perfectly.

dame grease blessed x on his first album. its how he completely pushed him aside which is why x sounded like shyt on later albums...imo

yea idk what dude talking about. dmx made nothing but classics over dame grease beats.. until the great depression.. when dame ried to get his swizz on to get placements from x. i wasnt feeling his beats on there really. its was ok but had me wanting more. i liked "when im nothing" and "school street" from the great depression
