Low key was there ANY MOMENT when King of Fighters was even equal to Street fighter?

I don't really know, cuz I came in when marvel super heros came..but from what I know is that everyone was playing x men children of the atom when samurai showdown 2 was popping..also I'm sure when alpha dropped, it killed any snk at that time.

KOF 98 was huge here. They even held tourneys out here and people are going crazy. Same sh1t happened with KOF 2k2.

nah X-men COTA was a straight up broken mess ( Ice man....). SS2 is actually one of the best fighting games ever made.

I don't remember either games being as popular as MK2 though. that was king back then.

I played at known arcade with top players..yeah they all played x men cota back then..I heard the stories..something about ice man being a cheap charcater ..I forgot..

Maybe during that long stetch between streetfighter 2 turbo and SF3?..if they didnt have sf alpha, but other than that, in the us, i cant see that scenario whatsoever.
