Someone made a video discussing this topic.

When I sold high end AV, I had an older Chinese lady call in to make an appointment to audition a system. When she got there, the room was still occupied with another customer. So I took her to another smaller room with a movie playing on a home theater system. When I come back to let her know the demo room was available, I realized Rush Hour was playing on the TV. I was like.
:sadcam: but as I entered the room she was laughing so hard she was on the verge of tears. I had to pry her ass out of the room, because she was so invested in the movie. She ended up spending $50k.
:whew:.

I thought the point of the movie was their ignorance towards each others cultures but they were still great partners? But yeah, no way this would work today. Even Chris asking his co-worker what color panties she's wearing. :mjlol:

But I remember Asian people at that time, maybe even today, liking the movies and even Chris Tucker. :ohhh::jbhmm: Different times.

i saw it on tv the other day and it started with a title card that said it had offensive depictions and humor :comeon:

some of the jokes weren't that funny bitd but is that really necessary? especially when the movie's message is about people overcoming racial differences to become brothers.

like love thy neighbour or rising damp in the UK.

neither would get made today.
