Ehhhhh. Not really that much of a "gotcha" moment, based on info that's come out since then. They thought the gained revenue from GamePass and straight sales would make it worthwhile, seems like maybe it didn't, and they're pivoting to make sure they maximize ROI.

If anything, I think the lesson is that Phil gotta stop doing these podcast appearances. They don't really seem to be helping much.

It never made sense for them to think they could take franchises who sell more than half their copies on the competing platform off that platform and have people follow. A lot of people had that thinking when microsoft was buying all these publishers, that they would make the games exclusives and people would buy the console but no one is budging.

it’s like Starfield was their big wake up call. Xbox is way too far behind to have some large migration of users, no matter what franchises they own
