One of the best of the year,IMO. It challenges the audience in a way that I think many will find uncomfortable. You can tell it's based on a play. Really,makes some,powerful statements about white saviors, black respectability, and stereotyping. The lead actor and Octavia were not playing! Seriously everyone brought their A game. I'm still wondering just whay happened and I love that.

Ending was horrible. Some gaps in the storytelling. But it was decent .

shyt was ON POINT AF. Movie of the year, till I seen Dr. Sleep.

Very slept on movie so far in a year full of disappoints imo.

Finally saw this on Hulu. Thought it was brilliant, one of those flicks that give you no easy answers where you’re constantly questioning who the “good guys” are

That final confrontation between Octavia Spencer’s character and Luce, deep af. Perfectly captured the dilemma black folks face, wanting to be an individual and not having to carry the burden of expectations and representation when we’re successful but being forced to do so anyway.

But yeah I loved this, highly recommend watching with other people to discuss it after.
