Taking way too long but I'll be happy when it finally gets here.
They may have stayed away too long. Wrestling ain't built for this seasonal structure. Buzz seems dead for LU.

They may have stayed away too long. Wrestling ain't built for this seasonal structure. Buzz seems dead for LU.

It can work but not with an extremely long midseason hiatus. Keep in mind these episodes were taped back in summer 2016.

The explanation for the mid season hiatus:

411MANIA | El Rey Called For Lucha Underground’s Mid-Season Break

According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the El Rey Network called for Lucha Underground’s mid-season break. The sudden stop this season and the long delay until the next set of tapings is very worrisome for the talent, mainly because a lot of the talent are locked into contracts and may have opportunities elsewhere. Right now they are locked out of going to WWE, ROH or TNA. A lot of the talent is reportedly unhappy. The decision to suddenly end the season and restart over in the summer and then tape again in November reportedly surprised the people within the promotion. The way the contracts work, the talent only gets paid when they do television, so nobody will be paid, other than perhaps top names like Rey Mysterio, until November. Not only will they not get paid, but they’re also locked under contract. WWE is aggressive in signing talent, TNA is looking for fresh faces, and the Mexican talent, who can make far more for Lucha Underground and working in the US than they can at home, are really unhappy. El Rey is still pushing Lucha Underground as a flagship show.

411MANIA | Reason For Lucha Underground’s Mid-Season Finale
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Lucha Underground is airing a mid-season finale next week and will then take a break for an undetermined amount of time. This is being done to extend the third season, since they will not tape season four until the fall of 2017 to debut in early 2018. The rest of season three will start when they return from the break.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't understand the move at all. The wrestlers have their hands tied and all the buzz LU has been able to generate has dissipated which will have a negative effect on ratings.

I'll be glad when it's back but fukk they need to start touring and getting their money/merchandising right.

the thing with LU is it seems like it is leading towards an end like a real TV show rather than it just being a wrestling show. I figure that there is gonna be all out war between the tribes until one is on top and that may be it, but I could be wrong, and if that's the case, then yeah, they need to start touring and look to get a bit more out of the Netflix deal, and even jump to cable TV like FX.

This is a good point. Has some game of throne arc to it. If only it could end with the beginning of a true American lucha promotion spawning. Regular weekly tv. Live events. There has to be an end game to become profitable here otherwise this should've just been an HBO mini series.

Won't be happening in LU as Doku (Kairi Hojo) has signed a WWE contract and Hitokiri (Io Shirai) is rumoured to also be E bound.

You can watch them murder each other though

I know they're E bound but did they not do anything else for this season?

I fully agree with LU taking a break at the end of the season tbh... not quite as sure about mid-season, but still - when there's a Lucha episode, a week feels special. The never-ending churn of WWE means eventually it's the FANS that have to decide to take the break themselves... usually when they've crossed over into actively disliking the product.

I actually got a pang of excitement seeing this thread get bumped.:feedme::feedme::feedme::feedme:

:what: WWE has no reason to sign all those people. They're just raiding for fun. They even signed Gunner and Crazzy Steve. :mjlol: They're about to steal Prince Puma too. :mjcry:

I get what the WWE's business plan is but as a fan of LU, I can't say I ain't pissed about it. I mean LU isn't ever going to threaten WWE but they still trying to take their top guys.
