I feel like if Luda dropped a Release Therapy type of LP as his 2nd or 3rd album, he would be looked at differently. His most serious album that was released too deep into his career. At that point, he couldn’t shake the stigma of being a goofy lyricist that made party music and bangers.

For me Theatre of the Mind was better, Release Therapy just felt like a trend jumping album.

I don’t know how anyone could say he didn’t excel at lyricism or character like they did. Ludacris is actually more of a versatile artist than Redman, and is basically coin flip with Busta.

He did both. Wasnt as entertaining as bus or lyrical as red.

Luda was always respected for his rapping skills but wasn't taken seriously as a rapper this is the contradiction of his career

And it's because for the most part his public character, content and visuals presented a more light hearted goofy funny side

Man had an album called chicken and beer

People didn't take him serious but stomp, made u look, and some of his own shyt proved he could rap

He had a sick flow, delivery etc he would kill guest appearances etc

I just didn't like the bulk of the shyt he released commercially and hence felt no need to check his albums which weren't critically acclaimed anyways

If he stuck to making Southern hospitality type of rap this would be a whole different conversation

On the flip side he sold millions of records and made a ton of money so at the end of the day can't knock him one but

He made a good contribution to hip hop and he should be given his flowers for that
