I bet all three of them would sound more intelligent rapping their viewpoints than arguing over Twitter like some preteens.
Fact is I understand both Azaelia and Kendrick's points and BOTH have a measure of truth that I feel the other should recognize, and as a whole that the African American community should recognize. Make no mistake that the Cac power structure has been at war with the black race since the inception of this country, there is nothing arguable about this point it is fact. Every single facet of living as a black human in this country is designed for us to either fail or succeed against all odds, there is very rarely a middle ground, an "easier path" as it were. This is the truth that Azaelia is attempting to convey
The issue of cultural pride and self respect is what Kendrick is speaking about, and to a degree what Cosby was trying to tell us. People got upset that Cosby was saying it in a "harsh" manner and people are now upset that Kendrick doesn't seem to be taking a militant "harsh" stance on the matter but the sad truth is that you cannot please everyone. However there IS truth to the statement that NOBODY will have respect for you if you have none for yourself, this is a universal truth, this is the truth that Kendrick is trying to get to the heart of. Black on black violence, drug use, c00nery, betrayal, Etc are all symptoms of a community of individuals who show no respect for one another or themselves. Who refuse to see PAST the system of oppression that has held us under thumb and realize that black history doesn't begin with slavery, that the world is bigger than the ghetto or the block, that no matter how much harder you have to work to achieve that you CAN presevere.
Kendrick and Azaelia are caught in the crosshairs of an argument that need not BE an argument, because they both are right. If black on black crime were to completely stop tomorrow would that being back Emmet Till, Trayvonne Martin, Eric Garner, or Michael Brown? No, becuase the issues of black pride, respect, and identity didn't lead to their murders. Blood thirsty Cacs with no regard for black life directly resulted in those young men losing their lives...
On the flip side white racism is a poor excuse for young black men and women of color having such little regard for ONE ANOTHER and themselves that they rob, murder, cheat, and manipulate one another in a poisonous cycle of crabs in a barrel syndrome. That they do not seek to better themselves through knowledge of self, that they do not work to achieve better for themselves or their families. Martin Luther King and Malcolm X did NOT wallow in self pity nor allow the obstacles they faced to represent their sense of identity or skew their understanding of what was right, what was just, and what the potential of themselves or of our people was to be.
I bet she doesn't apologize for bedwenching, c00ning, or any of the other lame shyt she did before adopting this pro black gimmick.
