The thing that's lame about this is Talib has railed against the "conscious" label
and the creative imprisonment conscious rappers face. He's taken issue with the
elitism that comes from certain people, even people that'd consider themselves fans of his.
That's what the whole "Prisoner of Conscious" album was about, breaking away from
cliches attached to being a "conscious rapper". IF anything Talib probably has no real beef
with the rappers this dude is nut riding in his articles. And instead of approaching the issues that arise
from Hip Hop Elitism and being ignorant, he pushes a different type of elitism and remains ignorant.
He's a shytty writer and is part of the problem that plagues Hip Hop journalism.
It's littered with dudes who can tell you more about "The Rolling Stones" or "Black Flag" but
they know fukk all about Ice Cube or Nas and the ideas that permeate their music and what
they try to express.
And if they do know anything about Hip Hop it's usually the most vapid, cliche, boring, contemporary Hip Hop they can find.
