Not even just that, I've seen him actively shade Kendrick then in the next breath be like "OMG new Drake
!!" The blackface caping was the final straw though.
Lupe is one of the most informed and well versed famous "younger" men on all area's of black culture not just AA.
If he could instantly see that there was some meaning to the blackface (even if i disagree or agree) I'd be inclined to believe him. I serious doubt he was pandering as he usually takes things of those matters pretty seriously.

In retrospect I think Lupe respects Drake and his writer’s pen game more than people realize. Especially back in his Room for Inprovement, Comeback Season days. Early Drake with his witty wordplay, double entendre, scheme style rap was definitely Lupe’s cup of tea.
Plus Drake was one of the young dudes that got out on after Lupe. Drake used to open up shows for Lupe, and stated many times how much of an influence he is, rapped over his songs with his flows, etc.
There is a mutual respect between them so I’ll never expect Lupe to come out and shyt Drake or talk about he got bodied. Tho he has thrown shots at him before.
