Look at what Atlantic has done for Cardi

Lets be real, Lupe had two good albums and just started feeling himself too much.

Atlantic (and the music industry as a whole) have been documented doing grimey business practices since the 50’s/60’s so none of this shyt should surprise anyone. Lupe is just one of many rappers that got fukked by Atlantic during that ‘05-‘10 era (Little Brother comes to mind as well).

You see charted albums/songs and think that’s it.

Lupe is part right but he's also bitter he's not in the spotlight. All celebs go through this.

Lupe was getting fukked by the label when he was successful.... its only a problem now cause he isn't a success no more!

What does Lupe not being in the spotlight have to do with artists being fukked in bad deals?

You bringing up irrelevant shyt to further away from the main point.

If it was such a bad deal he shouldn't have signed dumb nikka. You think the label invests in you for free?

He clearly said he didn’t sign and that’s why all his albums since The Cool received little to no promotion. Lupe was on one of those old non-360 deals and the only way to get out of it was to fulfill his album obligations. He only got off Atlantic after Drogas Light 2 years ago.

Atlantic really does seem like a mobster type of organization. I pretty much assume anyone signed to them is getting extorted big time

All 3 major labels have their orgin as fronts for Criminal Mobster type syndicates....

SONY /COLUMBIA was with Tommy Mottola and the Colombo Family

WARNER / ATLANTIC was with the Brofmans ..the Warner brother bootlegging family and Meyer Lansky

UNIVERSAL/MCA was and still is the Gambinos playground which began with Morris Levy and Michael Franceze

And this just proves you didnt read a thing. He clearly said he didnt sign it idiot and as a result none of his albums have been promoted. I swear the way some of yall lay all the blame on the rappers and people who try to expose the truth about the industry and none towards the leeches that jump hop from label to label fukking artists for decades is sad.

Yeah, Atlantic's known history of opening fukking their artists is just pathetic. you know there's a lot more shiesty shyt they did that we'll never hear about too.

Little Brother, Saigon and Lupe are just a few of the recent hip-hop greats that have had their careers derailed and/or ruined by that horrible label.

and :mjlol: @ kid who said "look at what they did for cardi". you're playing yourself if you think she has any ownership of anything, she'll never own her masters, but her master (lyor or whoever is running that place now) will own her as long as she's got a contract. she's getting fukked by her label figuratively (and possibly literally too). grammy win or not, she's just another slave on the atlantic plantation...

Basically he was on a pretty decent deal pre-360 and Lyor tried to strong arm him into a 360. Lupe tried to restructure the deal to make it fair but Lyor was playing hard ball and tried to blackball him
Until the whole “protest outside of the Atlantic offices” thing went down. Then he had a release date but the label tried to force him to record bullshyt songs like Nothing On You (which went to BOB) and Never Forget You.

Thats the reason he hates Lasers. It completely derailed the original concept of what his third album was supposed to be.

I remember the mixtape buzz that Saigon had and Atlantic shelved him for damn near 10 years :dead:

By the time ‘Greatest Story Never Told’ dropped, it sounded dated as fukk.

Cardi isn't the type of artist that is super capable on her own though. They promote the hell out of their artists because they know what sells, and collect all of that. And when you aren't selling the same anymore, they shelf you. Cardi is winning right now, but if she gets to Album 3 or 4 and you hear multiple delays and whatnot, you'll know.

As a matter of fact... Isn't that why Lil Uzi Vert just up and retired out the blue? It's probably label shyt at the heart of it.
