Lupe is spitting, but I have two issues with dude. One, he used to pack incredible wordplay and punches into his music effortlessly. Even the shyt that would go over your head never seemed forced. Nowadays it just feels like dude is trying his hardest to make the most difficult, obscure, minute punches and word flips he can and forgetting what was great about his lines in the first place. Tracks like Failure or Mean & Vicious were fun to listen to on a surface level as well as even more fun to break down. His music nowadays is on some Da Vinci Code shyt for the pure sake of being on some Da Vinci Code shyt. Nowadays, I get his lines but I have no fun in the process of breaking them down. Like that Derrick Rose line to start the song off: dope, the money/Deniro and Meet the Parents/Casino bars: dope. I get your cleverness, but this whole thing sounds like a bunch of rambling with no point but to drop some dope wordplay interspersed throughout.
Secondly, nothing he's touching on here is new. The illuminati shyt isn't new, Jay trying to sign him isn't new, I don't recall Jay saying anything about Lu. The only thing new here is what the song is named after, Jay's most successful album in a while. So I have to take this as the usual publicity ploy that desperate rappers use. Lu has a relevant enough name where going at Jay can actually help him. I just thought he was above shyt like that. If some info about a legit rift between the two comes out, then cool, but this just comes off like some desperate shyt.
