Same.
Used to love it. Now? Eh.

I feel some of the songs haven’t aged that well if we’re being honest (Gotta Eat, Go Go Gadget Flow, Streets on Fire, The Die, Hello/Goodbye, Fighters). Not that they’re awful songs, it’s just sonically he could’ve easily left them off.

And he has one of the worst songs I’ve heard from a top rapper in Go Baby.

Wtf is this? :dead:

It feels like a chore to listen to the whole album nowadays.

Some of the production is definitely a time capsule for 2007/2008. I was glad when the 2000’s ended, musically. 2010+ felt like a production renaissance outside of the mainstream shyt, comparatively.

My nine year old loves this album. Everytime we cruising around the city, her request is either the cool or 400 degreez.

I hope mine can appreciate stuff like that when she’s that age. She does seem to really like “Mama’s Gun” and some other stuff. She’s just old enough to smile, kick her legs, gyrate lol.

I’m in the minority but Drogas Wave is his best project and I don’t find it particularly close. T&Y is a chore to listen to.

I’m the opposite. There are some songs on DW that I really love, but I never feel like listening to it anymore. T&Y I can throw on whenever and play front to back.

Tetsuo & Youth for me. The Cool loses steam in the last stretch for me. T&Y is perfect from start to finish (and finish to start!)

I don’t see why you’d be in the minority, that’s easily his best album to me. It was nuanced enough in production & lyrics while he was still in his prime with his vocal delivery. His delivery that he was known for with Farenhenheit, Revenge of the Nerds, started falling off by The Cool while his pen sharpened.

The way people feel about T&Y and Drogas Wave, is how I feel about Food and Liquor. It’s quite possibly the most perfect hip hop album to me. Late Registration is another one.

She’s on her way, just keep playing good music. Mine knows Teena, Sade, Anita, EW&F, Gap band… She be fukking old heads up singing along to those songs at gatherings. I don’t get too crazy with rap while we’re together, but a classic is a classic.
