If you don't see the problem with some drugged up teenager from Chicago where murders are rampant glorifying killing and achieving a measure of popularity for doing so, then I don't know what to say to you.
Maybe the minstrel show comparison is played out, but at least back then, black people were portrayed as stupid, superstitious, happy-go-lucky clowns. Now they're portrayed as ignorant, drug-fueled, angry murderers.
The bad part about this is that the culture has become one where kids, who would be perfectly fine otherwise, are actually GROWING UP like this. Justifying just because it's "art" and therefore you shouldn't censor the artist's "vision" (or art imitates life or whatever) is like justifying a minstrel show actor who ACTUALLY IS an Uncle Tom simply because that's his vision of the world.
I hate when people focus on black people as if they're the only ones who have issues, but ignoring the issues or brushing them off as if they're irrelevant makes them worse.

It's obvious Lupe cares a lot about what goes on in HIS hood. That interview with Sway proved that. So him speaking about a dude talking about killing people, in a place where his homies from his past died ... what is wrong with that?
I'm sure Lupe isn't trying to tell this nikka not to make music, but he can see that there's a problem with 1) that lifestyle being lived and 2) it being glorified.
