As incredible Royce is? Overall he’s nowhere near his level…sold millions of records while simultaneously being a great lyricist (One of the GOATs).
Made a huge splash in the game with Food & Liquor that breathed new life into hip-hop. Took it to another level with The Cool and solidified his place amongst the best.
Have received tremendous praise from his peers and those who inspired him (Nas & Jay).
Royce gets respect but he’s never received that much acclaim….yeah he’s received it from the likes of Eminem but if not for Em forgiving Royce and becoming cool again, he would be largely forgotten because his music never moved the needle.
Lupe had moments….Royce never had moments. Again I’m not shytting on Royce’s abilities but he used to make all kinds of “I’m better than you raps”, dikk jokes and references that were corny while Lupe was making thought provoking music that were impacting lives.
It’s an insult really.
It also don’t help that’s he’s portrays himself as this untouchable goon that makes threats while also trying to be woke.
