Fans are weird. Regardless of who you think won the battle or who is iller, how in the fukk can anybody listen to Royce's track and not appreciate the level of talent, skill, and emceeing it takes to spit like he spit and say what he says?



I'll say it again for the thousandth time. Rapping is the only art form in history where the "fans" view being skilled in your craft as a negative quality. People are actually subtracting points from Royce for being "too technical".


And I got no dog in the fight. Both MCs are cool but I'm not too big on the music of either one, but goddamn. Acknowledge the pen game of both of these cats.

I haven't checked anywhere except this thread for people's take on the battle but that no quotables shyt is real talk. You can get away with just rhyming extremely well but not really saying anything substantive on random verses and shyt...but in a battle!?!?? How? A battle should be damn near 100% scathing quotables, lol...even if it's at the expense of the super rhyming. There's really nothing memorable about Royce's record except for the internal rhyme patterns and shyt like that, that's bad.

Listen to Ether, Takeover, etc... Nas and Jay-z can rappity rap WAYYY better than they showcased on those records...but that's not the place for it, you gotta tear the target up.

Agreed, you see it with the Verzuz battles with folks tallying up scores and calling legends "washed" etc. Simple minds like the bloodshed rather than the sport IMO. We're talking about top tier talent here, maybe Lupe is AAA and Royce is AA+ but neither is to be fukked with
