Somebody catch me up on how and why Anoynomous got involved with Atlantic on Lupe's behalf? I know they went on Twitter and gave Atlantic 72 hours but why exactly?
The album was originally supposed to drop in like September I believe. Then I remember Lupe going on Social Media and saying that the label pushed it back, I think that's when Anon got involved and strong armed them into giving him a release date.

Current Nas already made a better album with LIG.

I'm enjoying this album, though.
I disagree, I think LIG was average. especially coming off distant relatives and untitled, but this isn't the thread for that.

This was their statement at the time:

24 hours ago we released a short Twitter ultimatum. We called upon record label Atlantic Records, responsible for releasing conscious rap artist Lupe Fiasco's long awaited Album. We demanded a statement from the label within 24 hours to release a date or we would unleash the complete and utter fury of our collective on their company and executives. 21 hours later they released a short Tweet citing the album and it's release date.

At this time it can be concluded that we have proved our point. We wish music that is educating the masses to keep being released. We will fight for that. Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Common and others are the moving force behind conscious rap. This is music we will fight for.

We don't have this album without Annoymous. The album wasn't going to come out. Atlantic's hand was forced after they made those threats.

If you look at the album notes Lupe thanks them.

I hope you're right. I got legit disappointed reading that shyt
Lu too real :to:
Lupe's career post-The Cool is a fine example of what happens when you go to war with your record label.
He has publicly shytted on Atlantic in his songs & in protests and this has been a long battle for him. Yeah he was forced to drop some poppy shyt, but he never signed that 360 deal so Atlantic can fukk him & Chilly over for their publishing and merch. Real nikka shyt :salute:
As a result Atlantic didn't even bother to push or promote one of their biggest artist of the last decade that has made them plenty of money. fukk em :pacspit:
