Lupe's last good release of music was the leaked version of F&L :patrice:

Boring, whiny, pretentious. He's just a nerdier, skinny version of Phonte (another guy stuck in 2006). Pass.

That's a personal opinion. I can argue, T&Y(2015) is actually better. Pharaoh Height(2015) was dope as well. Lost in The Atlantic(2014) was great too.

Respect his opinion but he dead wrong on the J Cole Nas/Game comparison .

J Cole is HEAVILY influenced by Kanye. Especially late registration Kanye, specifically ye's more lyrical side and his singing.

Even his production sensibilities are very Ye influced just stripped down. It's even more evident on the mixtape ye dropped before the more polished LR dropped

Here's some references

This song was made by somebody who is definitely influenced by Kanye

I think he's dissing loads of ppl

The above tweet didn't come out well, he's talking about J. Cole not Rick Ross.

Kdot is two dudes mixed in one, J. Cole also

Is he saying top rappers today are just fusions of other rappers while he is the only genuine one?
Is that what he is saying?

I would hope not because Nas's DNA is what gave Lupe life. He's said so HIMSELF. Hell half his name is a tribute to a Firm song

Has Nas ever acknowledged Lupe in any kind of way? I could be wrong, but I've never heard Nas shout him out, and he's shown love to pretty much everyone post-2010. Always thought that was weird because of how hard Lupe stanned Nas, plus Lupe was fairly visible in the mainstream for a while there.

Nas gave Lupe props in an XXL interview years back. Maybe around 2008-09 ifI'm not mistaken.

Lupe is quoted as called Nas the Supreme rapper so you know the respect is there

Sometimes, instead of just being obsessed fans of certain people and attacking anyone who says anything objective about them, why not consider the source first? If Lupe Fiasco, someone who probably has the most potent pen ever on some strictly writing lyrics/wordplay ish, is politicin with you about lyricists and bars and all that then yeah, he probably knows what the hell he is talking about and you should probably keep that in mind before responding emotionally because he told the truth about your idol. Everything he just said in them tweets I read was 100% on point, from his take on Kendrick, to Eminem's rare, yet static, multisyllabic style back then becoming the norm over the years, etc...
This is true. And beyond that, fans are usually conventional thinkers. A lot of these artists, especially unique, "weird", unconventional rappers like Lupe have a completely different thought process than us. So of course he sees rap rankings differently. He processes life differently. It's what makes him the kind of artist he is. I like getting that different insight from a creator, even if I think Aesop Rock has one of the worst voices in the history of rap.

Fans should respect Lupe's insight and learn from it. We rarely get pure, honest opinions from rappers without the political nonsense.
