Kobe fit so well with Shaq because teams were do focused on stopping Shaq and trying to contain him, it slowed Kobe to rip apart the perimeter defenders because he's arguably the greatest one on one player of all time. Phil saw that and tailored that offense between those two.

Gasol was perfect for Kobe because it was Gasol and his amazing ability to both score and pass out of the post (Especially with how strong side defense became more prevalent in 08) that allowed Kobe to focus mostly on scoring. Gasol was the playmaker for that team and his rebounding ability, footwork, and scoring meant that Kobe could focus mostly on scoring at will. It was Phil's use of the players that led the Lakers to their championships.

Kobe was the most talented player and the most necessary piece but Phil was the reason that team worked as well as it did.
