Lyor is sure doing a lot of press lately. Probably more than he has in his last 30 years combined..
Leads me to believe, theyre really struggling over at 300.
Not struggling per se. 300 is very small, the advantage they harp on is the low overhead/fewer hands in your pocket approach. They focus on singles and don't take big losses on albums or tours.
But the problem is that their artists are largely gimmicks with no long term shelf life. Fetty was huge and then disappeared, Thug's sales are stagnant. In both bases you have artists who suck live, don't tour much, and haven't build loyal fan bases.
How long can you trot out the hot new thing only for it to come and go?
