Long time no speak @stomachlines hope you are well,

RD is an undeniable lyrical classic and its difficult to choose but if I did it would be Vol 1, partly from nostalgia as it was the first Jigga album I bought and had on heavy rotation (heard Ain’t No but went back on RD)

V1 had so many gems on there with videos such as Wishing on a star, Streets is Watching (inc soundtrack and film), Imaginary Player, City Is Mine.

I didn’t like What Girls Like but did like sunshine (although the green suits in the vid were ridiculous!)

Totally get why others go for RD though as it is a masterpiece...

What up bruh, how you been? :myman:

Word, I hear you. :salute:

I didn't really appreciate Vol. 1 until a year ago when I went back and listened to it. Album has held up very well and Jay was flowing all over it.

All good thanks :salute:

Yeh all of Jay’s stuff has stood the test of time imo, and the knowledge dropped throughout his catalogue is unparalleled.

Was/am a huge Biggie fan and believe he was the best to ever grace the mic but Jay Z was not just boasting about him being the closest one, he has backed that up for me.

Am I the only one who thought Sunshine wasn't a bad song? I know the video was corny but the song was cool for what it was

right there with you bro. yes that video was laughably bad with the fish eyed lens on hov and the cartoonish color schemes but i really dug that record. i mean how can you go wrong with that fearless four rockin it sample?

it was crack when mc lyte used it for the hook on cha cha cha & it worked here too

and yes nikkas clowned me for liking that joint because consensus said it was just a bad joint. hell even dame dash and jay said they understood why people hated on it when they were promoting streets is watching soundtrack on hot 97. that they basically created it for all the nikkas who hated sunshine, to which my cousin turns to me with that smirk like "See, told you it 's wack!" i still fukk with it and ready for this? lol i ain't even that mad at what girls like either but i know that's an extremely unpopular opinion. i really thought volume 2 was a strong album overall despite the obvious bad boy swagger jacking on the album

The real reason that Sunshine was hated on initially was because at that point in time damn near every rapper with a new album dropping tried to copy the bad boy template of lazily flipping a classic 80's joint where you spit about your material worth and feature a singer on the hook for a quick radio hit.

shyt was so bad that that you were the exception if you didn't follow that formula for your 1st single...

This

Sunshine & It was written suffered big time from that thinking

While IWW eventually got its love over time. People are still coming around to Sunshine

Jay- If I needed would you, give me your kidneys:mjgrin:

Foxy- For sure :jawalrus:

Jay- Catch a case you catch it with me :demonic:

Foxy-mm for sure :violent:

Jay-Pawn your jewlery to come get me

Foxy- :childplease:You better know

Jay-Catch me with a chick
Forgive me? :ld:

Foxy- :patrice:Now that, well I don't know

I fukking love this record man. So much I made this exact post before. Hov is a genius with his lyrics. For the life of me I can’t understand how anyone can say this record anywhere near wack

it's peak Jay Z from 1996 - 1999. Any album in that time is him at his best lyrically.
This... Jigga was just untouchable during this era :wow:

I can listen to any song from RD to vol 3 and be :feedme:

The dynasty/blueprint is when jay became washed up...

Still because of the four albums hes in my top 5 DOA

This isn't a crazy question AT ALL if you listen to both these albums. And I cringe when I see squares whove never seen coke act like lines like "gotta admire me from 4 fiends away" meant so much to them and put RD on an untouchable level
