I think IWW is the best hip hop album ever written too. He pulled the whole street dreamer with mafioso dreams concept off perfectly. When you play the album in full it feels like one long ass story/movie.

Exactly the way I feel. It is so cinematic. So vivid like it's an hour long movie. Sometimes I play the first 7 songs, and I'm already exhausted :whew:

Cinematic is the perfect word for that album.

:whoo:

And it's exhausting in a good way because the brotha is dropping short stories on us like it's nothing. The stories move at a natural pace and It's just straight up good writing in general. Not even just on some hip hop shyt but good writing from a literary perspective. You gotta be an active listener to appreciate IWW

Wow it's so funny to see dudes on here saying IWW was so great and even the GOAT album...because I was around when it dropped and general consensus was that it was that although it was really good, it was a disappointment compared to Illmatic.

And RD>>>>>>IWW

Nas imo is the G.O.A.T. lyricists

But RD is the G.O.A.T lyrical album imo

Hov wordplay on RD is crazy. I'm mad he changed after his style after that album.

That's all fine and dandy sir. But, you as well as I, know this is a recent (past 3-4 years) phenomenon--I personally can't rock with it.
Nah, it's something people in my age group early to mid 20s generally feel. When Schoolboy Q said it, and when Cole said that's he got put on it was nothing new to me. I have said that forever.

Then again, RD and IWW are my two favorite rap albums.

First impressions aren't always the best. You know RD was thought of as a disappointment too when it came out right? :sas1:

RD is right behind SOI personally as the most lyrical album. Jay was a
Monster lyrically. Sauce Money and Clark Kent said and even Reasonable Doubt is watered down compared to what Jay was spitting back then. He could've went even crazier if he wanted to

A disappointment? Not really...just a style that we weren't really used to. With IWW, we felt like Nas was falling into the mainstream trap...now he's Escobar, drug dealin, blah, blah, when Illmatic wasn't even about that.
