yeah.

horror is extremely light - you can mostly classify them as action kills more than horror

I enjoyed this 2nd one way more than I thought after seeing the previews and the Chucky doll horror vibe to Terminator, over the top action hero tone shift. Couple of funny parts along with unbelievably silly, but overall provided a fun time.

Still have no idea how Megan can build a bat cave for two years unnoticed

Yeah, woof for M3GAN 2.0. The genre shift + deciding to drop it in the middle of summer rather than taking advantage of that January/February window like the 1st one really crushed it. Bad decisions all-around.

And we classically over-thought how powerful people’s engagement was, really, with her."

During the podcast, Blum identified the movie's "genre-swap" — the first movie functioned as a horror movie with M3GAN as a slasher-type villain while the sequel pitched the bloodthirsty child robot as an action hero — as well as the decision to release the sequel in the summer as reasons behind the film's box office failure.

"We thought she could live in the summer, right? We thought, 'We're going from a little movie to a tentpole!' "
